Custodians of the Ocean - Marine Education School Pilot Program

in 2025, we launched a one-year pilot program in partnership with St Lukes Grammar Bayview, Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development NSW, Studio-Oi and First Nations Representation

Program Overview

2025 Pilot Program: St Luke’s Grammar Bayview. Years 1, 3, 5 (1/2 day program each school term)

  • The pilot program provides a new framework for educating students and empowering them to become custodians of the oceans.
  • Data analysis and reporting will provide a blueprint for community-led implementation of school marine education.
  • The program will increase public awareness and promote responsible behaviour and sustainable marine practices.

Learning Objectives

  • Increased appreciation for marine environments and a sense of responsibility for their preservation.
  • Understanding of the importance of marine sanctuaries in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
  • Importance of responsible management of marine ecosystems.
